Each report draws on primary datasets — the 1086 Domesday Book, the Portable Antiquities Scheme (1.6 million recorded finds), Historic England's monument register, Roman road networks, and geological surveys — to produce a 13-section deep-dive into the history of a location.

The service is named after John Aubrey (1626–1697), antiquary and founding father of British field archaeology.
