Oldcastle was run to ground at Broniarth near Welshpool after a violent struggle in which he was 'sorely wounded' and several on both sides injured or slain; he was carried to London by horse-litter, condemned by Parliament on 14 December 1417 as an outlawed traitor and convicted heretic, and executed the same day at St Giles's Fields, hanged and burnt; the Lollard political threat effectively ended with his death.
