These terms govern your use of aubreyresearch.com and the Aubrey Research service, operated by Aubrey Research. By creating an account, purchasing a report, or taking out a subscription, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Aubrey Research creates bespoke historical research reports for any location in the United States. Each report is generated specifically for your chosen location and search parameters. It is not a generic search result or a data extract.
Aubrey draws on a wide range of national archaeological, historical, geological and cartographic records, combines them with AI-driven research and analysis, and produces an original written report tailored to your location and your research interests. The depth of research, the cross-referencing of sources, and the written interpretation are the product of Aubrey's research engine, not simply a reproduction of publicly available data.
While you hold an active subscription, your reports are treated as living documents that we may add to or refresh as new records become available. Every report reflects the data available at the time it is generated or updated. While we make every effort to ensure reports are accurate and comprehensive, Aubrey Research reports are provided for research and information purposes. They should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional archaeological survey, legal advice, or formal heritage assessment.
Your account is personal to you and may not be shared with or transferred to another person. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
There are three ways to use Aubrey Research:
Single report. A one-time purchase of a single report for your chosen location. A single report is yours to keep. It remains available in your account permanently and never locks, whether or not you have a subscription.
Monthly subscription. Unlimited reports for as long as your subscription is active, billed each month.
Annual subscription. Unlimited reports for as long as your subscription is active, billed once a year.
Current prices are shown on our pricing page at the time of purchase, and applicable state sales tax may apply. Both subscriptions give the same full access while active, and the annual plan is offered at a lower effective monthly rate.
All payments are processed securely by Stripe, our payment processor. You enter your card details on Stripe's hosted payment pages. Aubrey Research never sees or stores your card details at any point. Stripe holds and processes your payment method on our behalf so that recurring subscription payments can be taken. You will receive a confirmation email when your purchase is complete.
When you take out a monthly or annual subscription you are agreeing to a recurring payment. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, each month for the monthly plan and each year for the annual plan, and the then-current price is charged to your saved payment method through Stripe. This continues until you cancel. By subscribing, you consent to these recurring charges. We send a confirmation of each payment by email.
You can cancel your subscription at any time, online and without needing to contact us, using the same easy process you used to sign up, from your account through the customer portal. There is no cancellation fee. When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and does not renew after that.
Once a subscription ends, your account moves to a light version. The Overview, Geology, Points of Interest and Timeline sections of your reports remain available, and the detailed sections and the full PDF download are locked until you subscribe again. Any single reports you bought outright remain fully yours and are not affected. Nothing is deleted: your reports and data are retained, and resubscribing restores full access instantly.
Your subscription is an automatically renewing plan. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, currently $11.99 per month for the monthly plan or $112 per year for the annual plan, charged to your saved payment method through Stripe, until you cancel. We disclose these automatic renewal terms to you before you subscribe. You may cancel at any time, online and using the same easy process you used to sign up, and there is no cancellation fee. On cancellation your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for and does not renew after that.
We may change subscription prices from time to time. We will give you advance notice by email, at least 30 days before a change takes effect. Any change applies from your next renewal. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
Customers who purchased an earlier annual plan before the introduction of these subscription options keep their original access on their original terms. Those accounts are not moved onto the new model and are not charged a recurring subscription fee.
If Aubrey is unable to generate a report containing at least three sections with substantive content for your chosen location, we will automatically identify this before your report is delivered and issue a full refund to your original payment method within 5 business days. In this circumstance you will be notified by email and no report will be saved to your account.
For subscriptions, we do not refund a billing period once it has started. If you cancel, your subscription continues until the end of the period you have already paid for and does not renew after that. For the annual plan this means that if you cancel part-way through the year we do not refund the remaining months; your access simply continues until the end of the year you have already paid for.
We do not offer refunds on the basis of personal dissatisfaction with the historical record. The content of every report accurately reflects the national records that exist for your location. Aubrey cannot create history that has not been documented. If you believe there is a factual error in your report, or that records relevant to your location have been missed, contact us at admin@aubreyresearch.com within 14 days of purchase and we will investigate. We do not offer refunds for reports that have been successfully generated and delivered where the content meets our minimum threshold.
A single report purchase entitles you to generate one report, which is then saved to your account permanently. Subscriptions provide unlimited reports while active and do not use credits. Any report credits on your account are non-transferable, have no cash value, and do not expire while your account is active.
To provide the service we hold your account details, the reports you generate, and, if you subscribe, your subscription status and the billing information needed to manage it, such as your plan, renewal date and payment status. Your card details are held and processed by Stripe, our payment processor, and are not stored by Aubrey Research. We use this data to take payment, manage your subscription and access, and provide support. Full details of what we collect, how we use it, and your rights are set out in our Privacy Policy.
The Aubrey Research website, brand, software and report format are the intellectual property of Aubrey Research. The underlying data in your report is drawn from publicly available national databases. You may use your report for personal research purposes. You may not resell, republish or redistribute report content without our written permission.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aubrey Research shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you in connection with the service shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the report in question or the total subscription fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, where Aubrey Research is based. This does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection laws of the state in which you reside, which continue to apply to you, including any applicable automatic renewal laws.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Changes to subscription prices are handled under Price changes above.
