Bronsil Castle is a Norman motte-and-bailey fortification located near Eastnor in Herefordshire. The castle dates from the late eleventh or early twelfth century and consists of a substantial earthen mound surmounted by a bailey, representing a characteristic example of post-Conquest military architecture. The site retains its defensive earthworks in reasonable condition, though the original timber or stone structures that once crowned the motte have not survived. The castle served as a stronghold during the Norman period but was eventually superseded by other fortifications in the region.
