Castle Law is a Perthshire iron age fort occupying a naturally defensible hilltop position above Abernethy. The fort's location on bedrock composed of Devonian mafic lava and tuff gives the summit a substantial geological foundation, with the harder igneous rock providing both stable building ground and formidable natural defences. The site's elevated position commands views across the surrounding lowland landscape, typical of iron age settlements chosen for their strategic visibility and natural protection.
