Castle Yard is a ringwork, a form of medieval fortification consisting of a raised circular or oval earthwork surrounded by a ditch, located in Suffolk, England. The monument dates to the Norman period, likely constructed in the eleventh or twelfth century as a relatively modest defensive structure. The ringwork comprises a central mounded platform enclosed by a substantial bank and ditch, a typical layout for such fortifications which served as residences and administrative centres for local lords. Castle Yard represents a common form of early Norman settlement defence in East Anglia, though it never developed into a more elaborate stone castle.
