The monument complex south of Carburrow Tor is a Bronze Age and Iron Age settlement landscape comprising two round cairns, three enclosed and two open stone hut circle settlements, a rectangular enclosure, and a medieval longhouse. The hut circles and cairns represent sustained occupation during the later prehistoric period, with the enclosed settlements suggesting organised community structure and possibly defensive concerns during the Iron Age. The rectangular enclosure may relate to land management practices of the same period or later, whilst the medieval longhouse indicates continued settlement and agricultural use of this prominent moorland location into the historical period. The site demonstrates the long chronological sequence of human habitation and exploitation of this part of Cornwall from the Bronze Age through to the medieval period.
