Ada Blackjack was an Iñupiaq explorer born in Solomon, Alaska on May 10, 1898. She accompanied an Arctic expedition to Wrangel Island, an uninhabited location north of Siberia, and lived alone on the island for eight months after other expedition members left or died. She died on May 29, 1983.
