Afeni Shakur was born in Lumberton, North Carolina, in 1947 and died in 2016. She was a political activist and member of the Black Panther Party who also worked as a businessperson. Shakur founded the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation and established Amaru Entertainment, Inc., a record and film production company where she served as CEO.
