Biography

Aileen Wuornos was born in Rochester, Michigan in 1956. Working as a prostitute along Florida highways between 1989 and 1990, she shot and killed seven men, robbing them after their deaths. She initially claimed self-defense, alleging her victims had raped or attempted to rape her, but later abandoned this claim. Sentenced to death for six of the murders, she was executed in 2002 after spending more than ten years on death row in Florida.
