Biography
Albina Osipowich was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on February 26, 1911, and died on June 6, 1964. She competed as a swimmer for Pembroke Women's College, now Brown University, and won gold medals in the 100-meter freestyle and 4×100-meter freestyle relay at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, setting world records in both events. She held a world record in the 100-meter freestyle in 1929 and captained her college team during her junior year, though she withdrew from international competition and national meets after her first year at Pembroke.
