Angelina Grimké was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1805 and died in 1879. She worked as an abolitionist, feminist, politician, and writer, and at one point was described as the most notorious woman in the country. She and her sister Sarah Moore Grimké were considered the only notable examples of white Southern women abolitionists. Angelina was married to abolitionist leader Theodore Dwight Weld.
