Mildred Ella "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1911 and competed as a diver, javelin thrower, golfer, baseball player, high jumper, tennis player, swimmer, and basketball player. At the 1932 Summer Olympics, she won two gold medals and a silver in track and field. She later became a professional golfer, winning 10 LPGA major championships before her death in 1956.
