Barney Kessel was an American jazz guitarist born in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1923 and died in 2004. He was known for his knowledge of chords and inversions and chord-based melodies, and worked as a member of many jazz groups as well as a "first call" guitarist for studio, film, and television recording sessions. He was a member of the Wrecking Crew, a group of session musicians.
