Ben Sharpsteen was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1895 and worked as a film director and producer for Disney, directing 31 films between 1920 and 1980. He created a museum in Calistoga, California documenting the history of Sam Brannan, the Upper Napa Valley, and his own life and work. He died in Napa County, California in 1980.
