Biography
Benjamin Peirce was born in Salem, Massachusetts in 1809 and worked as a mathematician, statistician, and astronomer. He taught at Harvard University for approximately fifty years, during which he contributed to celestial mechanics, statistics, number theory, algebra, and the philosophy of mathematics. He died in 1880.
