Biography
Blind Willie Johnson was born in Pendleton, Texas in 1897 and worked as a blues musician, guitarist, preacher, singer and composer. Between 1927 and 1930 he completed thirty recordings that combined powerful singing with slide guitar skills. Though his records sold well, he remained poor throughout his life despite performing as a street musician and preacher. He died in 1945.
