Biography
Cecil B. DeMille was born in Ashfield, Massachusetts in 1881 and worked as a filmmaker, actor, producer, director, and screenwriter. Between 1914 and 1958, he created 70 features spanning silent and sound film, with works that included social dramas, comedies, Westerns, farces, morality plays, and historical pageants. His films were distinguished by their epic scale and cinematic showmanship, and many dominated the box office simultaneously. He died in 1959.
