Biography

Daniel Quinn was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1935 and worked as a novelist, futurist, and writer. His novel Ishmael won the Turner Tomorrow Fellowship Award in 1991 and was published in 1992. Quinn critiqued the term "environmentalism" for treating the environment as separate from human life, and he rejected the mainstream environmental movement as misguided and ineffective, instead calling his approach "new tribalism." He died in 2018.
