Douglas McGregor was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1906 and died in 1964. He worked as a management professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and served as president of Antioch College between 1948 and 1954. He also taught at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. His 1960 book The Human Side of Enterprise influenced education practices.
