Biography

Ernie Banks was born on January 31, 1931, in Dallas, Texas. He played shortstop and first baseman for the Chicago Cubs in Major League Baseball from 1953 to 1971. Banks was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977 on his first ballot and was named to the Major League Baseball All-Century Team in 1999. He died on January 23, 2015.
