Gale Storm was born Josephine Owaissa Cottle in Bloomington, Texas in 1922 and worked as an actress and singer. She appeared in films between 1940 and 1952, then starred in the television programs My Little Margie and The Gale Storm Show during the 1950s. Six of her songs reached the top ten, including a cover of "I Hear You Knockin'" that peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1955. She died in 2009.
