Biography
Helen Hayes was born in Washington, D.C. on October 10, 1900, and worked as a stage actor, film actor, television actor, and Ziegfeld girl. She was the second person and first woman to win the EGOT, and the first person to win the Triple Crown of Acting. In 1986 she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Ronald Reagan, and in 1988 she was awarded the National Medal of Arts. She died on March 17, 1993.
