Biography
Henry Ward Beecher was born in Litchfield, Connecticut in 1813 and worked as a journalist, theologian, politician, and writer. A Congregationalist clergyman and speaker, he supported the abolition of slavery and emphasized God's love in his preaching. He faced an adultery trial in 1875. Beecher died in 1887.
