Herman Daly was born on July 21, 1938, in Houston, Texas, and died on October 28, 2022. He was an economist and professor at the School of Public Policy of the University of Maryland, College Park. From 1988 to 1994, he served as a senior economist at the World Bank. In 1996, he received the Right Livelihood Award for defining a path of ecological economics that integrates ethics, quality of life, environment, and community.
