Biography
Huey Long was born in Winnfield, Louisiana, in 1893 and served as governor of Louisiana from 1928 to 1932 before becoming a United States senator in 1932. During the Great Depression, he criticized President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal as insufficiently radical. Long was assassinated in 1935.
