Jack Kramer was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1921 and worked as a tennis player and sports journalist. He competed at the elite level during the 1940s and 1950s, winning three Grand Slam tournaments through a serve-and-volley playing style. Kramer led the U.S. Davis Cup team to victories in the 1946 and 1947 finals. He died in 2009.
