Weldon Leo Teagarden, known as Jack, was born in Vernon, Texas in 1905 and died in 1964. He worked as a jazz trombonist and singer, leading his own bands and playing as a sideman for Paul Whiteman's orchestra. From 1946 to 1951 he performed with Louis Armstrong's All-Stars.
