American boxer (1858–1918)
Biography
John L. Sullivan was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1858 and worked as a professional boxer. He held the heavyweight championship under gloved boxing rules from February 1882 to September 1892, and was also recognized as the last heavyweight champion of bare-knuckle boxing under the London Prize Ring Rules. Sullivan died in 1918.
