John M. Fabian was born on January 28, 1939, in Baytown, Texas. He served as an aircraft pilot and military officer in the Air Force, and worked as a NASA astronaut. Fabian flew two Space Shuttle missions and contributed to development of the Shuttle's robotic arm. He later led the Air Force's space operations before his death on May 21, 2026.
