Joseph Murray was born on April 1, 1919, in Milford, Massachusetts, and worked as a surgeon and physician. He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1990, which he shared with E. Donnall Thomas for discoveries concerning organ and cell transplantation in the treatment of human disease. He died on November 26, 2012.
