Biography
Kate Millett was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1934 and died in 2017. She attended the University of Oxford, where she earned a degree with first-class honors at St Hilda's College, becoming the first American woman to achieve this distinction. Her 1970 book Sexual Politics, which emerged from her doctoral work at Columbia University, became her most recognized work. Millett worked as a writer, educator, artist, and activist across her career.
