Katherine Helmond was born on July 5, 1929, in Galveston, Texas, and died on February 23, 2019. She worked as a film, television, and stage actor, as well as a voice actor and television director. Over six decades she appeared in the sitcom Soap as Jessica Tate from 1977 to 1981, and co-starred as Mona Robinson on Who's the Boss? from 1984 to 1992. She played Doris Sherman on Coach from 1995 to 1997 and Lois Whelan on Everybody Loves Raymond from 1996 to 2004, and made guest appearances on talk and variety shows.
