Biography

Layne Staley was born in Bellevue, Washington in 1967 and worked as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and composer. He served as the original lead vocalist of Alice in Chains, a band that achieved international fame in the early 1990s as part of Seattle's grunge movement. Before his work with Alice in Chains, he was a member of the glam metal bands Sleze and Alice N' Chains, and later participated in the supergroups Mad Season and Class of '99. He died on April 5, 2002.
