Biography

Lloyd Bentsen was born in Mission, Texas in 1921 and worked as a politician, lawyer, judge, and entrepreneur. He served as a United States senator from Texas from 1971 to 1993, and was the Democratic Party nominee for vice president in 1988 on the Michael Dukakis ticket. From 1993 to 1994, he held the position of the 69th United States secretary of the treasury under President Bill Clinton. He died in 2006.
