Muriel Humphrey was born in Huron, South Dakota in 1912 and died in 1998. A politician, she served as a U.S. Senator from Minnesota in 1978 after her husband Hubert Humphrey's death, becoming the first woman to serve as a senator from that state. She was the second lady of the United States from 1965 to 1969.
