Biography
Natalie Zemon Davis was born in Detroit in 1928 and worked as a historian, writer, screenwriter, and women's rights activist. She held the Henry Charles Lea Professor of History position at Princeton University and studied the early modern period, with research spanning France, Italy, Spain, Morocco, North Africa, West Africa, and the Caribbean. Davis served as the second female president of the American Historical Association. She died in 2023.
