Robert Lee "Peabo" Bryson was born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1951 and worked as a singer, songwriter, and record producer. His debut album, Peabo (1976), featured collaborations with Luther Vandross and Cissy Houston. He later signed to Capitol Records and released Reaching for the Sky and Crosswinds in 1978, both certified Gold by the RIAA. His collaborative albums included We're the Best of Friends with Natalie Cole in 1979 and Born to Love with Roberta Flack in 1983, which contained the single "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love." He died on June 2, 2026.
