Robert Bly was born in Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, in 1926 and worked as a poet, essayist, linguist, editor, and translator. He won the 1968 National Book Award for Poetry for The Light Around the Body. His 1990 book Iron John spent 62 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list. He died in 2021.
