Biography

Robert William Taylor was born in Dallas, Texas in 1932 and died in 2017. A psychologist and computer scientist, he directed the Information Processing Techniques Office at ARPA between 1965 and 1969, then founded and managed the Computer Science Laboratory at Xerox PARC from 1970 to 1983. He later founded and managed Digital Equipment Corporation's Systems Research Center until 1996.
