Rod Roddy was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 28, 1937, and worked as a radio and television announcer, stage actor, voice actor, comedian, and writer. He announced the CBS game shows Whew! and Press Your Luck, and succeeded Johnny Olson as announcer on The Price Is Right in 1986, a position he held until his death on October 27, 2003. Roddy became associated with the catchphrase "Come on down!" from The Price Is Right, which was inscribed on his grave marker, though the phrase originated with Olson. He also provided the voice of Mike the microphone on Disney's House of Mouse from 2001 to 2003.
