Roger Sperry was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1913 and died in 1994. He worked as a physiologist, neurologist, psychologist, and physician. In 1981, he shared the Nobel Prize in Medicine with David H. Hubel and Torsten Nils Wiesel for his split-brain research. A 2002 survey ranked him as the 44th most cited psychologist of the 20th century.
