Biography

Wiley Post was born in Van Zandt County, Texas on November 22, 1898, and worked as an explorer and aircraft pilot. He flew solo around the world and contributed to the development of one of the first pressure suits and the discovery of the jet stream. On August 15, 1935, Post and American humorist Will Rogers died when his aircraft crashed during takeoff from a lagoon near Point Barrow in the Territory of Alaska.
