Ballachly Broch is an Iron Age defensive structure located approximately 360 metres south of Stemster in Caithness, northern Scotland. The monument belongs to the broch tradition of the Scottish Iron Age, a distinctive architectural form comprising a hollow-walled circular stone tower that dates to the first centuries BC and AD. Like other brochs in the far north of Britain, this structure would have served as a fortified residence or communal defensive stronghold for the local population during this period.
