Baluachraig is a Prehistoric rock carvings site located in Argyllshire, Scotland, situated approximately 100 metres south-west of the settlement of Baluachraig. The carvings comprise cup-and-ring marks pecked into the natural rock surface, a characteristic form of Prehistoric rock art found throughout Scotland and dated to the Bronze Age, though some such marks may originate in the Neolithic period. These motifs, consisting of simple circular depressions sometimes surrounded by concentric rings, represent one of the most enigmatic expressions of Prehistoric artistic expression in northern Britain, their precise symbolic or functional purpose remaining unknown. The site contributes to the broader archaeological record of Prehistoric settlement and ritual practice in Argyll.
