Beauvale Carthusian Priory is a monastic site located in Nottinghamshire that was founded as a Carthusian house in the fourteenth century. The priory exemplifies the austere architectural traditions characteristic of the Carthusian order, with surviving remains that reflect its contemplative purpose and planned layout. Like other English Carthusian foundations, Beauvale was dissolved during the Reformation in the sixteenth century, after which the site underwent gradual decay. The extant structures and earthworks constitute important evidence for understanding monastic life and the physical organisation of a Carthusian community in medieval England.
