Bindon Abbey is a Cistercian monastery founded in the 12th century near Wareham in Dorset, established as a daughter house of Ford Abbey. The site comprises substantial surviving ruins of the monastic complex, including remains of the church, cloister, and associated buildings that reflect the characteristic layout and architectural development of a Cistercian foundation across the medieval period. The abbey became a significant landowner and wool producer during the high and later Middle Ages before its dissolution in 1539 during Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. The earthworks and standing masonry that survive today provide important evidence for understanding monastic life and the architectural practices of the Cistercian order in southern England.
