Black fort rath is an Early Christian ringfort situated in the townland of Limavady, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The monument consists of a circular earthwork enclosed by a bank and ditch, characteristic of the rath form that proliferated throughout Ireland from the Early Christian period onwards. Such fortified homesteads served as the residential and defensive centres of individual families or small communities, and their prevalence in the archaeological record reflects the decentralised settlement pattern of early medieval Ireland.
