Blaise Castle is a multiphase fortified site located near Bristol in Gloucestershire, with evidence of Iron Age hillfort construction, Roman occupation, and medieval reuse. The Iron Age defences comprise substantial earthworks consisting of multiple banks and ditches that enclose an area of approximately eleven acres on the elevated promontory. Following the Iron Age period, the site shows archaeological evidence of Roman activity and was subsequently occupied during the medieval period. The site is now incorporated within Blaise Castle Estate, an eighteenth-century landscape garden designed by William Ames, which contains the Gothic Revival folly castle constructed in 1796 and represents an important example of Picturesque garden design.
