The site comprises the remains of domestic occupation and associated agricultural infrastructure dating to the post-medieval period, representing the settlement patterns and land use practices of rural south-eastern Scotland following the medieval era. The field system demonstrates the organisation of arable and pastoral agriculture typical of tenant farms in the Scottish Borders during this period.
